Now stylised as The Royal Air Force Air Cadets, cadets all over the country have been celebrating and taking part in a range of events.
OC 1360, Flt Lt Katie Macpherson, tasked FS Zach Davies with creating additions to our usual annual BBQ and in the style of 1360 NCOs he did not disappoint. He had ambitious plans to make the night a huge success- from a live band Acoustic Union, to relaunched Squadron merchandise and memorial souvenirs, the ideas came to fruition thanks to FS Davies, FS Stuart McPherson and Sgt Matthew Osbiston. The night could certainly not have been successful however, without the support of the Squadron’s fantastic civilian committee, who threw themselves behind the evening and were paramount to its success.
Not content with new merchandise, the Squadron proudly showed off new promotional pull up banners, designed by FS McPherson and launched their minibus fundraising.
On the night a whole host of ex-cadets from the unit gathered to reminisce and look through old photos, as they remembered their part of this unique Squadron’s history.
For some of the cadets, it was certainly a night to remember as they took steps or their first step along the promotion pathway. Cdts Otto Van-Huizen and Camron Johal were promoted to Cpl, Cpl Remi Munn was promoted to Sgt and Sgts Matthew Osbiston and Thomas Hodges were promoted to FS.
1360 Squadron has a long and proud history, with current cadets continuing to add to the remarkable tapestry of achievements that the unit has been a part of, not least their achievements of last weekend where they saw off the rest of the Region to take the Drill and Banner Drill trophies.
OC 1360 said, ‘It was a great night and it was so lovely to see so many members of the Squadron, both current and ex- members join together to celebrate being a part of such a fantastic unit. This night was down to the hard of work of the committee and cadet NCOs and I’d like to thank them for all of their efforts.’
